What Millsaps Students Do After Graduation

 

93% of the Class of 2011 reported that they are prepared for the next step in their careers. 65% of the class had secured employment and/or candidacy in a graduate school. 

According to the responses from the Class of 2011, those accepted to graduate or professional school were pursuing degrees in the following fields: 

Arts & Sciences - 17% 
Theology & Education - 3%
Business - 31% 
Law - 10% 
Medicine & Health Sciences - 23%

Currently we have alumni in medical and dental school at University of Tennessee, Florida State University, Washington University, Tulane, Emory, Southern College of Optometry, University of Pittsburgh, University of Mississippi Medical Center, Louisiana State University, Touro College, and Baylor University, among others.

We also have recent graduates in divinity schools at Duke University, Southern Methodist University, University of Amsterdam (Netherlands), Vanderbilt, and University of Chicago studying religion, theology and sacred music.

Recent Millsaps alumni have been accepted to the following law schools: American University, Southwestern University, Mercer University, Loyola, Emory, University of Houston, Howard University, Samford, Vanderbilt, New York University, University of Miami, Louisiana State University, Mississippi College, and Texas Tech, among others.

For graduate programs in business, 31% of the Class of 2011 chose Millsaps College for the MBA or MAcc program. Other business programs that have chosen our alumni for the past few years are Louisiana State University, University of Texas at San Antonio, University of Memphis, Ole Miss, Rhodes College, Ohio State University, Lynchburg College, and the University of South Carolina.

Future teachers are pursuing graduate degrees in education at University of Southern Florida, Ole Miss, University of Tennessee - Knoxville, University of Virginia, Xavier, Johns Hopkins, Trinity, and Fordham, among others.

The top job categories for employment for the Class of 2011 are:

Business & Financial - 10%
Arts, Design, Entertainment, Sports & Media - 7%

$38,159 was the average full-time salary offered to 2011 graduates, Bachelor and Master levels.

Directly after graduation, the Class of 2011 went to work in a variety of fields. Interesting job titles include Financial Institution Specialist, Media Relations, Gunsmith, Software Developer, Leadership Specialist, Campaign Assistant, Auctioneer, Tour Guide, and Play-by-Play Announcer.

Some well-known employers providing 2011 graduates with full-time opportunities are Zata-3 Consulting, USDA, U.S. Attorney's Office, South Korean Government, Peace Corps, Neel-Schaffer, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, Millsaps College, Louisiana State University, Foot Locker, FDIC and Horne LLP.
