Millsaps is pleased to offer talent-based scholarships to students
interested in the fine arts and the performing arts. Scholarships
are awarded based on an audition and the student's application for
admission. Declaring a major or minor in a particular academic discipline
is not required for most of these awards.
Complete a scholarship application form to participate
in our Music, Theater or Art Scholarship Competition. Send the application
to Millsaps College Admissions two weeks prior to your audition
date. You will then receive a confirmation via mail or e-mail with
the audition time, directions and practice information.

Audition Guidelines:
Vocal
Vocalists should prepare three songs of contrasting styles from
memory. Art songs are recommended. If possible, present at least
one song in a language other than English. An accompanist will be
provided. Please send sheet music to the department prior to audition.
Piano/Organ
Pianists/organists should prepare three pieces of contrasting
styles from memory. It is recommended to have at least Baroque and
20th century pieces represented. Please provide sheet music for
the faculty to follow during the audition.
Instrumentalists
Orchestral instrumentalists are recommended to have a movement
from a concerto, an etude, and another piece of their choice. An
accompanist will be provided upon request. These guidelines
are also applicable for guitar auditions. Contrasting pieces from
different periods are preferred.
Theatre
Actors should prepare two modern, two-minute monologues of contrasting
styles. Following the monologue presentations, actors will engage
in a brief interview with theatre faculty and students.
