Students will tackle the painting process with respect for a traditional approach, learning about the chemical make-up and interaction of materials as well as how to push them around. Creating a three-dimensional illusion on a two-dimensional surface will be one of the great tasks addressed, along with developing an understanding of form, shape, color, light, volume, texture, content, context, and restraint. Students will be challenged to sight and re-sight the world they thought they knew.
