CALGARY,
Alberta – Former
Major Chris Jackson grabbed his first career touchdown
pass as a professional 11 days ago for the Calgary Stampeders
of the Canadian Football League (CFL), hauling in a 7-yard
completion from QB Henry Burris in the third quarter to seal
a 28-18 victory over the BC Lions.
Jackson
signed as a free agent on May 13, 2008, after spending time
in camps of the New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers
and Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL).
In his only
year as a Major, Jackson led all Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference receivers with 65 receptions for 693 yards
and nine touchdowns and added 832
return yards. He became the second player in SCAC history
to take two punts back for touchdowns in a single game and
the first in Millsaps history, helping the Majors to a 34-12
victory over then 14th-ranked Trinity for the 2006 SCAC Championship.
Jackson garnered
D3football.com first team All-America special teams honors
and was twice named to the D3football.com Team of the Week,
while gaining
Football Gazette Second Team All-American honors,
SCAC Special Teams Player of the Year and SCAC Offensive
Player of the Week accolades.
He
