Head
Coach Mike DuBose
QUICK OVERVIEW OF OPENING FALL PRACTICE...
“Well, I guess my initial impression is that we’re not in
as good a shape as I thought and hoped we would be in coming
back from the summer. We’ve got a lot of work to do from
a cardiovascular standpoint. I saw some talented individuals
out there at every position, but we need to get in shape first.
My biggest concern right now is depth in the offensive line and
improving our cardiovascular conditioning."
POSITIVES OF FIRST PRACTICE...
“I thought the offense did a nice job in the blitz pickup period.
The quarterbacks read the blitzes well and threw the ball to
the right spots, while the receivers made good adjustments. I
thought for the most part our offensive lineman did a nice job
of seeing and passing things off and handling the protection
part of that. I think that was the best part of practice and
typically that’s an area that takes awhile of getting proficient
at."
ON AN NCAA REGULATED FALL SCHEDULE...
“As a Division III school, we have 25 practices. The first five
are the acclamation period where the first two days are in shorts,
the third and fourth days in shoulder pads and shorts and the
fifth day in full gear. Of those 1-A-Day practices, you can never
go more than three hours. Once you get into 2-A-Day practices,
a total of five hours can be used (2 ½ hours per practice)
with a minimum of three hour rest between."
Secondary
Coach Marcus Woodson
ON THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE IN THE TEAM/SYSTEM FROM 2005...
"Well, when I first got here I viewed the football program
on an average level, but coach DuBose has done a great job
of working with us as assistant coaches and the football players
as well to turn this program around. Now we are trying to compete
for a national championship. To turn around this program in
a three-year span is pretty
tremendous work on
his behalf and is a compliment to us as assistants and to the
players as well."
ON HIS FEEL
OF THE FIRST PRACTICE...
"Conditioning was a concern, but overall athletically I was
really impressed with the incoming freshmen. They did a lot
of things well, but they just have to figure out where to go
on every call on defense. As far as the upperclassmen, they
picked up right where they left off from the spring and did
a great job picking things up quick. I can tell they've been
working hard over the summer."

ON THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HIS FIRST AND LAST CAMP...
“The difference in my three years here is I’ve never looked
forward to camp, but I’m excited this year... it’s
my last season. The teams gotten better since I was a freshman,
we’ve progressed every year and I think we’re going
to take it all the way.”
ON BEING A QUIET CONTRIBUTOR EVERY YEAR...
“My goals are to keep playing as much as possible. We have great
defensive backs in front of me in Marcus Harris and Jonathan
Brooks... they do a great job. Even the newer guys, they are
going to do a good job and keep progressing.”
68 – Adam Williams – Sophomore OT – New
Orleans, La.
ON THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HIS FIRST CAMP...
“I actually knew what to expect this year so I’m in a lot
better condition and I worked a lot harder this summer than last.”
ON HIS GOALS FOR THE SEASON...
“Give up as few sacks as possible, stay together as an offensive
unit and do whatever we need to do to win a national championship.”
ON BEING A STARTING OFFENSIVE LINEMAN...
“I have a lot to prove and I have to show that I belong in this
spot.”
