JACKSON – Millsaps athletic director
Tim Wise announced today the hiring of Stacy Podelski, who
will serve as the first ever full-time sports information
assistant under sports information director Kevin Maloney.
She will officially begin on August 1.
Podelski
comes to Millsaps from Brooklyn College, in Brooklyn, N.Y., where
she spent three years on the Bridges' staff. Podelski
served as an assistant sports information director all three
years in charge of updating and maintaining
six
websites and assisting with press releases, game-day programs
and StatCrew software and her final two years as
the Senior
Women's
Administrator
and Assistant Director of Recreation, Intramurals and Athletics
for
10 Division III sports.
Podelski has also worked as a freelance writer for Latino
Sports Venture, covering multiple games for the New York Yankees and
Mets, served as a freelance assistant to the SID at Long Island
University and New York University and fulfilled an internship
in media relations with the New Jersey Devils.
With a wide variety of experience from College to Professional,
Podelski will likely be the primary contact for four or five
sports of Millsaps' 14 intercollegiate athletic programs, including
volleyball, women's soccer, men's and women's cross country and
softball. She will also travel with the teams per the coach's
request.
"Having
Stacy join the staff with so much experience is a huge asset
to the entire athletic department," Maloney said. "Her
knowledge of all StatCrew programs and the day-to-day duties of
a sports information department were the main reason she was the
top choice among a handful of strong applicants. I think she will
be a great fit here and will make this department one of the best
in Division III."
A graduate of Springfield College in Springfield, Mass., Podelski
earned a bachelor of science in Communications and Sports Journalism
in 2003 where she was a two-time member of the Dean's List.
