JACKSON – On day two of the SCAC Central/East Divisional, the Millsaps College volleyball team picked up two thrilling comeback victories over Oglethorpe and Hendrix.

In the 3-0 (25-10, 25-19, 25-23) victory over Oglethorpe, the Majors had to fight to win the last set against the Stormy Petrels. In a spirited match between the two teams, sophomore Kate Hall had the match and set-winning points in the victory.

Overall Hall had nine kills to go along with two service aces and four digs. Freshman Maggie Tumminello (pictured) had six kills to go along with three aces, while sophomore Mallory Clark had a stellar game with six digs.

It was Clark who helped Millsaps close out the Stormy Petrels in set two, being on the serving line for the last 13 points. Two of those points were serving aces from the sophomore setter.

Toni Manley, Dixie Krauss and Hailey Miranda also had a fine match for Millsaps. Some of the numbers for the three were, Manley who posted four kills and four blocks, Krauss who had 20 digs and Miranda with five kills to go along with six digs.

In the second match against Hendrix, the Majors played a feisty Warrior team to four sets and won 3-1 by scores of 25-15, 22-25, 25-17 and 27-25. With the last set of the match being one of the most competitive affairs to be seen in the Hangar Dome, with Millsaps coming back from a 23-14 deficit to win.

The comeback started with a kill from Tumminello that made the score 23-15, giving the ball in the serving end to Clark who stepped up again for the Majors and stayed on the serving line for nine points - three of those service aces. A miscue from Millsaps tied the two teams at 25. It was then that Manley closed out the set for the Majors, pushing two points for the 27-25 victory.

The ladies will now head to Birmingham-Southern for another SCAC Cross Divisional. The team will have its toughest test to date with games against Trinity, Southwestern, Colorado and Birmingham-Southern.
