BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Millsaps had its toughest outing to date in the SCAC Central/West Divisional hosted by Birmingham-Southern, losing all four matches to some of the top ranked teams in the league and country.

Despite being on the wrong end of a sweep, the team had many bright moments.

One of those moments came in the second set against 7th-ranked Trinity University, as the team picked up a 25-23 win. Another bright spot came against another nationally ranked team, as the Majors went five-sets with 16th-ranked Southwestern University. Millsaps hung tough with the Lady Pirates and fell 25-20, 20-25, 14-25, 25-19 and 12-15.

Leading the team in the tournament was sophomore Kate Hall with 40 kills, seven service aces, six blocks and 17 digs. Freshman Maggie Tumminello also had a strong showing with 24 kills and 58 digs. Rounding out the offense was sophomore Hailey Miranda who had 86 assists and 14 kills.

Leading the way defensively for Millsaps was Dixie Krauss who had 73 digs, while Mallory Clark rounded out a solid defensive showing with 39 digs.

The ladies will host the last two home matches of the season this weekend, welcoming Belhaven to town Friday at 7 p.m. (Senior Night) and Huntingdon College at 11 a.m. Saturday.
