BIRMINGHAM,
Ala. – Millsaps had its toughest
outing to date in the SCAC Central/West Divisional hosted by
Birmingham-Southern, losing all four matches to some of the
top ranked teams in the league and country.
Despite being
on the wrong end of a sweep, the team had many bright moments.
One of those
moments came in the second
set against 7th-ranked Trinity University, as the team
picked up a 25-23 win. Another bright spot came against another
nationally ranked team, as the Majors went five-sets with 16th-ranked
Southwestern University. Millsaps
hung tough with the Lady Pirates and fell 25-20, 20-25,
14-25, 25-19
and 12-15.
Leading
the team in the tournament was sophomore Kate
Hall with 40 kills, seven service aces, six blocks and 17 digs.
Freshman Maggie Tumminello also had a strong showing with 24 kills and 58 digs.
Rounding out the offense was sophomore Hailey
Miranda who
had 86
assists and 14 kills.
Leading the
way defensively for Millsaps was
Dixie Krauss who had 73 digs, while Mallory
Clark rounded out a solid defensive showing with 39 digs.
The ladies
will
host the last two home matches of the season this
weekend,
welcoming Belhaven to town Friday at 7
p.m. (Senior Night) and Huntingdon College at 11 a.m. Saturday. |
