Sweat Scholarship
At Millsaps, the arts aren’t just an occasional hobby. They’re an integral part of the undergraduate experience. The Sweat Scholarship, named for emeritus professor Dr. Jonathan Sweat, is for students with a strong academic background who demonstrate excellence in music performance.
Jacqueline Coale of Biloxi, a Sweat Scholar and a 2004 recipient of the Second Century Scholarship, is currently a junior majoring in music. She is involved in the Millsaps Singers, Chamber Singers, and the Millsaps Players.
In addition to this, Coale is a member of three honoraries: Phi Eta Sigma, Mu Phi Epsilon, and Alpha Si Omega. She serves as vice president of the public relations department for Delta Delta Delta Fraternity and is an active member of the Catholic Student Association.
Coale is thankful for the generous scholarships that have enabled her to experience the “genuine friendliness and amazing community of Millsaps.”
"I love the small class size and how I have a personal relationship with each of my professors. I also love how it is so easy to become involved and to get to know everyone here."
