Brno Chamber Soloists

Monday, October 10, 2006 - 7:30 pm

The Brno Chamber Soloists, a string chamber orchestra, will perform works by Czech composers, as well as works by Grieg, Mozart, and J.C. Bach. The concert will feature soloists Michiko Otaki (piano) and Jan Škrdlík (cello) in concertos by Mozart and J.C. Bach.

Miloš Vacek, the first violin of the Janácek Quartet, established the Brno Chamber Soloists in the 1990s. An ensemble of experienced musicians from the city of Brno organized and performed a number of concerts in the Czech Republic and neighboring countries. In the 2003 violinist Jiri Besperát became the artistic director.

This new ensemble debuted that summer with a performance of Handel's Messiah at the international festival "The Landscape of Music" in the city of Telc. In January of 2004 they released a CD of works by Myslivecek, Janácek, Suk and Štedron, through the publisher Gnosis, in support of the celebration "Years of Czech music."
