Residence Hall Construction

Millsaps College has begun construction on three new residence halls, located to the south of Reuben’s and across from Galloway Residence Hall. Once completed the residence halls will house approximately 141 juniors and seniors in suite-style living.

Please note: ALL visitors to the construction site fenced area MUST don a hardhat for insurance and safety reasons. When coming onto site, everyone must stop at Harrell's construction trailer to pick-up a hardhat and sign-in on the visitor’s log.

Plans for the first floor consist of multiple living and learning spaces including a large living room, kitchen and conference room. The garden level will also feature a living room and laundry room with a glass wall separating the two rooms to allow students to keep an eye on their laundry. See the architect renderings of the proposed floor plans: first floor, second and third floors.

Single rooms will be located on all four floors. Each room is private and will include a double bed, desk, closet and individual sink, and share a bathroom with an adjoining room. Like all of Millsaps’ campus, the buildings will feature wireless connections. See an image of the floor plan.

Designed by Treanor Architects of Lawrence, Kansas, the project is being managed by Partners Development; a development group out of Knoxville, Tennessee. The contractor selection process is currently underway.

The new brick buildings are traditional in style and follow the design guidelines outlined in the Millsaps Campus Plan. The middle building will feature a pediment and columns on plinths to serve as the center point of the three buildings. The residence halls, so far unnamed, will be the first built since New South in 1995. The three halls are slated to open in the fall of 2009. See a rendering of the finished halls.
