 Designed for students interested in learning Spanish, this summer program features classes at the Costa Rica Spanish Institute (COSI), an outstanding academic institution located in San José, the capital of the most stable, progressive country in Latin America. Besides courses taught in Spanish by Millsaps and COSI professors, the program includes a good balance of cultural activities, educational tours, and recreational travel. Students have excellent opportunities to make new friends and experience Hispanic culture firsthand by staying with middle-class Costa Rican families. We invite you to take advantage of this exceptional chance to enjoy living the language as well as learning it. Students wishing to take courses towards the language requirement must consult with the Director on prerequisites and placement. A service learning option is available.
Several program options are available
You may choose to take two, four, eight, twelve or sixteen credits.
Choose one of our Mini Sessions:
- May 18—May 31 or July 6—July 19
- $2395 (for May Session) and $1995 (for July Session) plus airfare and personal expenses (2009 cost)
- 2 credit hours per course, one course included

Mini Session includes:
- Two hours tuition
- Lodging and most meals
- Weekend (May Session) and day excursions
Choose either of our Short Sessions:
- May 18—June 16 and July 6—August 4
- $3895 (for May–June Session) and $3395 (for July–August Session) plus airfare and personal expenses (2009 cost)
- 4 credit hours per course, one course included. Second course may be taken for an additional fee

Each Short Session includes:
- Four hours tuition
- Lodging and most meals
- Weekend and day excursions
Choose one of our Long Sessions:
- Long Session, May 18—August 4 (for students above Spanish 1000)
- Long Session, May 11—August 4 (for students who have not studied Spanish before, or who have been placed in Spanish 1000 through our placement test, and want to complete their language requirement in twelve weeks)
- $7995 plus airfare and personal expenses (for first long session) and $9295 (for second long session) (2009 cost)
- 4 credit hours per course, two courses included. Third and fourth courses may be added for an additional fee (for first long session) - 4 credit hours per course, three courses included (for second long session)
