100% Adopt-A-Class Program

1 Campus, 1 Community

The 100% Adopt-A-Class program pairs Millsaps student organizations with classrooms and teachers at Brown Elementary School in the Midtown neighborhood. It is funded by a generous grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Jackson.

Millsaps students work with teachers at Brown Elementary to support classroom instruction, enhance students' engagement with the arts, and provide special events such as field trips and classroom celebrations.

The 100% Adopt-A-Class program is among five school-community partnerships that received a 2011 Governor's Award in Mississippi.

A Jackson Field Trip Guide (PDF), designed to help Millsaps adopters plan and implement field trips in the Jackson area for their adopted elementary school class, is available for adopters at other schools to use, too. For the 2010-11 school year, every classroom at Brown Elementary has been adopted by Millsaps students.
